The word “Piscine” is the French word for “swimming pool”: dive into the deep end of coding, and learn how to swim - together with your peers. The Piscine is a four week long trial period. During the Piscine, you will discover the basics of coding from scratch. No prerequisites of any kind are needed: no previous degrees, no coding experience. This period will be very intensive and requires commitment. There is no fixed number of applicants to be selected. This means there is no competition between applicants and anyone can be selected. We see it as a test run to see whether you and 42 spirit are a good fit.
WILL THE ADMISSION BE ONLINE?
Everything except Piscine can be done from home. Below are the steps to register:
1. Registration. Online.
2. Logic games. Online.
3. Introductory meeting: only possible after successful completion of the logic games. Online or on campus.
4. Piscine. Registration is possible only after attending the introductory meeting. Held physically in Prague on our campus.
CAN I MANAGE THE PISCINE WITH OTHER COMMITMENTS?
The Piscine is designed as a full-time experience. Ideally, we recommend taking four free weeks to fully immerse yourself in the curriculum and community at 42 Prague. If this is not possible due to your job, we recommend trying to take at least the first two weeks off so you can get adjusted. Our campus is 24/7, so you have the flexibility to adjust your schedule. No matter your situation, we recommend spending as much time on campus as you can to make the most of the Piscine.
WHAT ARE THE SELECTION CRITERIA?
We don't publish our selection criteria, but we can tell you one thing: candidates who really try hard, make progress, work as team players and never give up are the ones most likely to be selected. However, a clear requirement is sufficient knowledge of English, as the admissions process and the entire study is conducted in English.
WHEN DO I KNOW IF I GET IN?
We announce the results of the piscine 2 weeks after the end of each Piscine. Each candidate gets an email with their results. Stay tuned!
WHAT IF I DON'T PASS THE PISCINE? CAN I APPLY AGAIN?
A Piscine helps the candidate and the 42 team to assess who will benefit from the 42 learning model. If you don’t pass the Piscine, you can apply one just one more time after one year (365 days). If you do not pass the Piscine, do not be discouraged - there are many other ways to learn coding.
I WANT TO VISIT THE CAMPUS... WHAT SHOULD I DO?
What a pleasure! For a personal visit you need to write to our email so that we can count on you. Write to: info@42prague.com
Thanks! Random visitors without an appointment unfortunately can not be accepted.
WHAT IS A DISCOVERY PISCINE AND WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE FROM A REGULAR PISCINE?
Discovery Piscine is a 5-day course that focuses on the basics of web development. It's completely free and anyone can attend by registering for the relevant term and you don't even need to be registered for 42 Prague.
Piscine, by contrast, is a 4-week bootcamp on the C programming language and is part of the selection process for future study. To participate in Piscine, an applicant must successfully complete online logic games and attend an introduction meeting.
HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE DISCOVERY PISCINE?
Registration for Discovery Piscine is via Eventbrite. So if you see that we have Discovery Piscine available, you can sign up for free.
ARE THERE ANY REQUIRED EVENTS DURING THE PISCINE?
There are no required events, but we highly encourage you to attend several. This includes the Kickoff on the first day, and exams, happening every Friday. There will also be partner and community events throughout the Piscine. These are an invaluable part of the experience that you should take advantage of, allowing you to network with IT professionals and have fun with your fellow Pisciners.
IS THERE ANY WAY I SHOULD PREPARE FOR THE PISCINE?
There is nothing you need to study before starting as the Piscine is designed to teach you from the very beginning. Otherwise, we recommend you rest and be prepared to open your mind to new concepts and people. (edited)
